Under a stage 2 design and build form of contract we reconfigured and refurbished these leisure centre facilities to provide a private health club feel to a local authority centre! We liased closely with the Local Authority to ensure all of their main concept objectives were included in the design and through a totally transparent cost process established an auditable best value project.
The project consisted of a 5000ft² gym with views overlooking the pool, associated changing facilities with pool side access and sauna facilities, refurbished studio and reception areas. All areas were fully compliant with DDA legislation.
The Ashdown Leisure Centre is part of a school site and therefore careful planning and consideration was required. Temporary changing facilities were provided to enable the school curriculum to be maintained whilst the project was delivered.
