Project: Spelthorne and Sunbury Leisure Centre
Client: SLM / Spelthorne District Council
Value: £2.1m
Duration: 32 weeks
Role: Main Contractor

This was a phased operational refurbishment that required regular clear communication with the operational team to ensure the success of the project.

Spelthorne Leisure Centre was a multiple phased project included the reconfiguration and refurbishment of a 4000ft gym and associated changing facilities. An additional studio was incorporated in the facility by installing a mezzanine floor in an existing sports hall. The full refurbishment of the pool side village change area provided a dry/wet facility onto poolside with a brand new sauna. This area incorporated family change, school and disabled facilities. The restaurant area was also refurbished including a children's play facility.

In addition to the main works we developed a schedule of general maintenance works that were required throughout the centre. These works were successfully delivered alongside the project and enabled the Council to have one point of contact.

Sunbury Leisure Centre is part of a school site and therefore careful planning was required. Phase 1 works included a gym refurbishment, dry changing facilities and new school changing facilities. The success of Phase 1 prompted the Council to allocate funds for Phase 2 Village changing refurbishment works, which was also successfully completed.
