"The refurbishment of SpelthorneÕs leisure facilities was never going to be an easy project. With an entire refurbishment needed and the desire to keep the facilities open, both client and contractor had a huge challenge. Nearly two years later and over £2 million spent, IÕm pleased to say that the partnership with Vincent Stokes has worked extremely well. At times we have pushed them very hard, by making changes and expecting at times what almost seemed impossible. The team always did as best they could to meet our needs and always took a very flexible approach to the way everyone worked. I wouldnÕt hesitate to work with Vincent Stokes again, whether a large or small project, IÕm certain they can deliver."
Dan Reynolds, Leisure Services Manager, Spelthorne Borough Council

This was a phased operational refurbishment of an existing large public leisure centre that required constant clear communication with the operational team to ensure the success of the project. The project was extended by negotiation to include dilapidation works to the existing building which were successfully delivered alongside the project.

A complex multiple phased project included extensive reconfiguration and refurbishment of a 4000ft gym and associated dry changing facilities. An additional studio was incorporated in the facility by installing a steel frame and concrete mezzanine floor in an existing sports hall and both the existing and new level were fit out to provide 2 studios.

A full refurbishment of the pool side village change area to provide a dry/wet facility onto poolside with a brand new sauna and disabled changing facilities. The restaurant area was also refurbished including a childrenÕs play facility which we assisted the Authority with securing lottery funding for.

We maintained full operational services to the facilities during the duration of the works.

The works were procured through a 2 stage tender process and the works were carried out under a JCT 2005 design and build contract.
